Glenn received the following email from Pernilla Sviberg, our Exchange Student from 1999-2000:
Hi Glenn!
How are you? I am sorry that it has taken me ages to get back to you. It is always nice to hear from you, that you still remeber me. Do you still have exchange students in my favorite Rotary club?
Midsummers day was in June. I spent it with my family and cousins on Åland, my home island. I also had the chanse to go windsurfing next to our summer house.
I am not ready with my MD, I am doing my last clerkship rigth now at the clinic of traumatology in Helsinki. But I should get my MD before Christmas, I hope. I still have a few language exams to pass. Last summer was the first time I worked as a physician. And yes, I did a few 24 hour shifts.
Right now I am writing to you from work, so I don't have any pictures but some from my friends wedding home page... The blond guy in the Pernilla2 picture is my boyfriend Janne Eriksson :) We have been dating for almost 3 months now.
What else is new... I was on another exchange recently. I did an internship at the clinic of traumatology in Zagreb in Croatia in July. It was lovely to visit the coast of Croatia. The water is so clear and it was nice and warm. Sometimes too hot for being in the city...
Say hi to all of my friends in The Club!
Hugs,
Pernilla

Albin Hellberg was our RYE student from Sweden during 2006-07. He attended Corvallis High School. The following is a copy of an e-mail sent to and forwarded by Robert Thornberg, Club Youth Exchange officer.
Hola Robert,
It was nice to hear from you. Right now I got a day left until my third week of Swedish school over. As you might know I started going to a totally different school, where I didn't know anyone and I was actually very nervous the first day. But luckily everything turned out, if not perfect, so at least pretty close. Because I've got some nice friends already, even though we're not that close yet, but I'm sure we'll be pretty soon. The toughest thing in school right now is definitely math, because it feels like I've forgotten everything, and stuff my classmates already know, I have to learn again.
My other subjects are; History, English, Music Theory, Biology, Chemistry, Physic, French, Music History, Swedish, Choir, Spanish, Guitar, PE, Dance and a second Swedish class, with more grammar involved. I bet you think that's a lot of subjects, and I can't do nothing else than agree, and of course we get homework in almost every single subject! Math's the most difficult one as I've already said. And in English I'm considering taking the final exam soon so I can do other homework on that time instead.
I have longer school days here too, I go til about 4-5 pm every day, so I don't really have time for a whole lot of other activities, but I still practice with a rock band every Thursday after school, I do kickboxing every
Sunday and Tuesday, I lift weights with some of my old friends, and I go out
running as often as I can, which is about three - four times a week. So basically the only time I'm free is on Friday and Saturday nights, and then I hang out with friends.
See you,
Albin!
